Who am I?

My name is Vytis, I am a Gestalt psychotherapist. I am glad that you are here.

I chose to study Gestalt therapy because it is a good way to find answers to important life questions and to address general concerns, and to get in touch with yourself. I also have access to consultations with a qualified supervisor. That way, I can both improve my skills as a therapist, and more readily provide the assistance that you might need.

About Gestalt Therapy.

Gestalt therapy focuses on the process and the ability to adapt to one's environment. At certain times in our lives, the ways of adapting that may have served us in the past might no longer be effective in the present. If we aren't flexible enough in our approach to new challenges in life, all kinds of difficulties may arise. Every situation requires a different way of adapting (or simply being). So, in Gestalt therapy we touch on what seems immovable and work on the areas where we feel stuck.

One of the main goals of Gestalt therapy is to widen the field of possibilities. This form of therapy focuses on one's uniqueness and individuality. When we learn to recognise our needs, then we can both make decisions that are important us, and also take the necessary actions as a result.

The "Me and You" Relationship.

In a Gestalt therapy session, I am me and you are you. We have a space where we can be ourselves. We go into the therapeutic relationship as we are, bringing our own experiences. We leave the relationship also as ourselves, but perhaps a little changed — having felt or discovered something new. This way, we can slowly learn to express and be in contact with ourselves in different ways.  This is my personal experience with the Gestalt approach and I look forward to hearing about yours.
